Well made, good looking
A nonprofit I belong to is putting on a radio play this Christmas. We thought it would be fun to use the old time Foley sound effects. All the action takes place inside an 1870s sheriff’s office, and we hope the opening and closing of this Foley door will help the audience keep track of the action. This is a nice lock. I wish it had come with instructions, but otherwise, it was perfect. These type of locks are rather noisy, which is exactly what we wanted. Old West authentic looking.

Exactly what I needed
Happy with the product. I live in a very old home and all the doors have the old school door knobs and locks. Glad to find a third party product that pulls off the old locks from back in the day. Literally an exact copy. Because my door already had drilled holes, I just had to make another hole for the keyhole on my door. I purchased the knobs separately elsewhere and it still fit with this product. So far, no problems turning or locking the door. Simple to install. Glad to finally close my door properly and secure my room when I'm away.

Saved me a lot of effort
Nicely made. Was easy to install. A bit smaller than the original, so the keyhole did not line up, but that was not an issue for me, since I didn't have a key before. I did drill a couple of new screw holes for mounting .I feel fortunate to have found this lock on line. It was a much quicker job than I expected, and my wife is happy. (I gave it four stars for the size issue, but if you want to put more effort in than I did, go for it.)

Very good quality & engineering for the price
I renovated a very old house in the 80's and kept the original thin (1") interior doors throughout. Most of the rim locks have been replaced since then, one at a time usually, as they wear out. This rim lock is the sturdiest replacement I have used. AND cost was similar to what I paid back in the 80's. BUT, if you need to reverse the latching mechanism, I recommend taking a photo or two of the inside as soon a s you carefully lift the shell off. Instructions are not very clear so buyer beware.

I am very happy with the lock.
I am very happy with the lock. It was exactly the same size as the old one. My husband and I fiddled around with it for a while. The holes on our door were just a little too close to the edge of the door (1/16-1/8"), so the shank wouldn't go through straight. So he drilled out the side of the door holes to open them up in the direction we needed and we inserted toothpicks on the side of the hole we needed filled. It worked like a champ. We found our knob could not be tight up against the lock because it caused it to grind when turned. So we loosened it a wee bit (pulled the knob away from the lock), then tightened the set screw (to hold the knob on the shank) and it all works great. The lock is reversible also. We opened the lock and flipped the part that catches the door jam as it was the wrong direction for our door (part of the piece looks like a U). It doesn't look like it should be flipped because the other side is different, but when you put it back together it holds it in place so it works. Pay close attention to the springs and how they need to go before you start any changes. We also found that someone had cut too far into the door frame where the door catch is mounted, so we had to shim that so it brought the edge of the catch even with the outside of the door jam so the door would shut properly. The things you find when repairing old houses. lol

Period Correct
This lockset is for a passage door in a restored 1870's Queen Anne. Wanted hardware that was period specific and this fit the bill. Looks like it was always there. Also purchased matching handles and rosettes. You only need one rosette for the outside of the door. Came with all the screws, a lock keyhole trim and the strike casting. When tightened down to the door face it still operated smoothly which was an issue reading reviews form less expensive models. Made sure the hole I bored for the handle shaft was at least as large as the round brass moving part so it would not rub.
