Great Item for all string players!
Had several instruments that were exhibiting slipping or sticking pegs (Cellos, Violas, Violins of 3 sizes). Rather than short change it, I decided to go the "whole nine yards". I un-string the instrument (one string at a time so as to not disturb the bridge or soundpost) and applied the compound to the pegs at BOTH bearing points. Properly fitted pegs will bear in the pegbox next to the tip and near the thumb hold, so be sure to treat both areas. Then I restring that particular string, only tightening it to approximate pitch, waiting to re-tune until all pegs had been done. Then I re-tuned the instrument, experiencing the great difference in the ease of turning the pegs as well as the lack of slipping. You still have to exert pressure on the peg toward the pegbox to make it wedge into the tapered holes. With this compound you will not have to fight stuck pegs when you go back to tune the next time.

Works as it should
Yeah. But it’s so expensive for a tiny little thing?

Tuning Reworked
Tuning a violin, especially an old violin, can be a real experience. I am EXTREMELY sensitive to accuracy in the tuning of an instrument. Many are extremely easy to tune, ones like woodwinds and brass. Strings are another story, because they need to be tuned WITHIN THEMSELVES as well as to the rest of the ensemble. Getting the tuning of a violin right is made EXTREMELY difficult when the pegs do not move smoothly. If they tend to bind it is almost impossible to get them to move in almost microscopic increments, something that is essential for a well-tuned instrument. This substance handles that problem immediately. The tuning pegs move like a butterknife through butter. If you have ever used a vernier caliper you will know what I mean when I say that you can alter the tuning in tiny amounts, resulting in a perfectly tuned instrument. Great product. I really do NOT know how I did without it.,

Also great for Cello
My daughter used this for her cello peg. With the heat and cold, things start to fit a little differently in instruments. This helps everything to fit well together and allow for the best performance of the instrument. The value was good.

Helped to make my Violin Tuning Pegs turn smoothly
Easy to use. Just cut of a small portion of foil at one end of the compound tube to expose the compound. Apply to tuning pegs at the two contact points on the pegs every time you change strings. When done applying, store in the included aluminum tube. This compound makes turning the tuner pegs turn more smoothly.

testing it out
it is somewhat pricey for the little metal tube but, I am assuming for what i need it for was worth it. now the little tube, is not a BAD thing as its size you can carry it with you in violin case.. in the title i did say i was testing it out and I will..then I can pass my own likes/non-likes about it,...if there are any.

A life saver!
I unexpectedly found myself playin Viola at my grandpas funeral, and I hadn’t touched my instrument since 2017. My pegs were all lose and I couldn’t get them to stay in place to keep Pearl (my viola) in tune. I was able to get this in just a couple days and it worked like a CHARM. I love that unlike peg glue I could still manipulate my pegs and loosen my strings while traveling. Should I ever play consistently again, this will be a staple in my case!!
