High Quality ... Excellent Performance ... !
I write very few reviews ... I recently received this product and gave it a thorough inspection: Material used, thickness of materials, component construction, design and care taken in finishing details. Having been in the design and manufacturing consulting industry for 40+ years, this product rates very high in all characteristics. The blade is a heavy duty monster!I ran a large block of muenster cheese through the slicer and it performed flawlessly, as if it was butter. I'm looking forward to many years of performance and longevity. Congrats ... ! I wish i could afford the 12" version and give it a review ... Without a doubt this qualifies as an industrial machine.

Nice slicer
Very nice slicer. Feels commercial quality. Very heavy. I wanted this size for larger chunks of meat, but an 8in model might've sufficed.

Quality slicer!
I got this primarily to slice meat for slicing meat for Korean barbeque and for jerky. I could never get the butcher at the grocery to cut the meat as I requested. The red slicer is pretty (except for a couple of scratches it came with), but I anticipate more scratches over time. I wish an identical silver model had been available for the same price. As far as performance: When I was working with meat that was half frozen, it made quick work of slicing a roast, with smooth cuts and back and forth movement of the platform. However, it didn’t perform well with a raw roast that was not frozen — the meat was just not firm enough to keep its shape, and shifted off kilter on each pass back. I haven’t tried cooked meat yet.As far as cleaning. Holy Moly. It took me about 45 minutes to get it apart and clean the pieces. Believe the complaints about the screws on the blade being so tight you are in danger of stripping the heads. I had to get my husband to work the screwdriver while I held the blade and the slicer still (The blade kept spinning as he tried to turn the screws.) With very slow turning and hard pushing, he finally got them loose without stripping them. Now that I’ve done it once, it won’t take as long the next time, but it will still be a 30 minute task.Overall I’m pleased with the slicer because it does a great job for my purpose — but because of the pain to clean, it probably won’t be something I’ll pull out casually to do a small quick job.UPDATE: I did a second round of slicing and cleaning was much quicker and easier now that I know what to do (and what NOT to do). Tips: In addition to protective gloves, I put a towel on the area under the blade as I was removing or replacing it, to avoid scratches on the paint, and also for safety. Also — I put some plastic wrap on the back plate (where the meat lands). It made cleanup and sanitizing a lot easier. I also covered the on/off switch and the thickness knob with plastic wrap so as not to contaminate them. And finally, I put rubber gloves on OVER my kevlar gloves — it kept them clean, dry and sanitary.

Bona-fide “professional grade” commercial grade home slicer
Over the years, I have owned a few supposedly professional grade home slicers that I purchased from Williams-Sonoma. All of them have suffered from their plastic blade support roller sheering apart should the blade encounter even minimal resistance slicing meat or even cheeses. Poor design and even worse customer service… so I upgraded to this KSW commercial grade slicer. Huge improvement! Belt driven, heavy duty metal parts. Much more powerful motor. Precision slice thickness. Immediately the difference in construction, design, and performance was obvious. I had done diligent research, and found that there are basically two home slicer basic designs featured by several brands, with but minor variations. Probably out of the same two major factories? My previous slicers all shared that common plastic blade roller and plastic gear drive; while this KWS and a couple other commercial grade units all share the bona-fide heavy duty belt drive. Reviews indicated that this KWS was the top rated; so I chose it. So far it has surpassed my expectations. Slices are smooth, and as thin as I desire (for sandwiches), or thicker for jerky. Cleaning is trickier; the blade is samurai blade sharp, so you need kevlar gloves. But the unit does disassemble easily, which makes cleaning easier. Just be real careful handling the blade! (Hey, I wanted sharp, so I am not complaining.) Overall, this IS the slicer to buy if you are a serious home chef.
