Way better than Stockmar
I bought these and Stockmar. I wanted to try them and wanted to see the difference between the two brands. There is no comparison between the two. Filana are so much better that I will never buy stockmar again. I also bought the instruction book 'Coloring with block crayons' (way overpriced for what you get but the only option out there that I could find). It is impossible to do what that instructors guide says when using stockmar crayons. Filana crayons glide onto the paper like butter. They are smooth. They blend and mix well on paper. Stockmar crayons...don't. Using Stockmar to blend is impossible. Stockmar crayons are VERY waxy. They will not blend, they only make one color go on top of the other but they can't be mixed or blended. Meaning, you can't take red and yellow and make orange, or any other blended color. Filana glide on smooth and blend like a dream. You can layer colors any way you want to. Filana can't be compared to any other crayon I've ever used. They are in a league of their own. Stockmar are on par with cheap no brand colors from a big box store. Only difference is Stockmar come in block form. Our Stockmar tin also claims "wax blocks with pure beeswax" but a little research proves they contain very little beeswax. I'm not totally comfortable with Filana's evading the question as to exactly what their crayons are made of but since I'm not opposed to parafin wax, only looking for good crayons that glide onto paper and the ability to color in the way block crayons do, I'm not too concerned about that or Stockmar's lie about being beeswax. It's just something someone might want to know. Using block crayons takes some getting used to and they aren't the easiest to hold for small hands, rock crayons meet that need and color similar to filana. All in all, I highly recommend filana and will buy them again.Filana....please make a white. A larger set with more colors would also be nice.

Perfect for little hands :)
This is our first experience with block crayons. I bought the egg shaped crayons crayons for my oldest when he was younger (he’s 6 now) but he never seemed to like them and they were awful to color with. Uncomfortable to hold and just didn’t color very well. When I discovered block crayons, it was the Stockmar brand that I found first but after I saw The Filana crayons and that they had a higher percentage of beeswax compared to the Stockmar I decided to try them first. These crayons are lovely. They were well packaged-no broken or chipped crayons in our box. My kids were so excited to use them I wasn’t able to get a picture of them before they colored with them but I did get a couple action shots and a pic of the crayons all in their box after a few uses. My boys are VERY rough on crayons and Crayola sticks just do not work for them right now. The younger one immediately starts snapping them and the older one ends up breaking them too though it not intentional. These block crayons have stood up to the vigors or being used by an under 2 year old and a 6 year old beautifully. They are easy for both kids to hold and use due to their shape. I was thinking they’d be a little larger but since this is my first experience with beeswax block crayons I didn’t have anything to compare them to size wise. On the other end of the spectrum are the crayons eggs which are so large they are hard for my kids to hold and comfortably use.Coloring with them is a joy for all of us as they move across the paper very smoothly and the colors are buildable and blend beautifully. They also feel good in your hand. We’re so happy with these crayons and will definitely purchase them again when the time comes though I’m sure they will last a long time. Once both boys are older and past the breaking stick crayons stage, I will probably pick up a pack of the Filana beeswax stock crayons to add to our art supplies too.

Safe and Fun to use!
I researched a lot about crayons. I have a four year old who loves to draw and anything to do with art. I also have a 1 year old so safety was important to me. We store our art supplies on a lazy Susan in the middle of our dinner table so my four year old will color until he eats and then colors after and sometimes (when I let him)while he is eating so again they needed to be safe. I like how these unlike Stockmar are not made of paraffin wax but are still high quality crayons made in the USA. I did read lead safe mamaS review and was concerned about the black and brown (I believe it was)that had cadmium in it. I reached out to filana about it and they got back with me quickly. They put my concerns at ease. I also read another blogger natural baby mom that said she tested her filana crayons for lead/cadmium and they were completely free of both. I looked at every crayon and feel completely safe with my four year old using these and he loves them!! He feels special that I got him such nice art supplies. I did but the veggie baby block crayons for my 1 year old only because they are food based and he puts stuff in his mouth. Once he is closer to 2 and is more coordinated I will let him have the filana crayons. The filana colors much nicer and I also bought the sticks which we also love!! I know nothing is perfect including the air we breath so we just do our best to find quality “non toxic” toys. Thanks for making a great quality true non toxic crayon in USA!

So smooth
These crayons are the smoothest, most beautiful crayons you can buy for a child. The colors are so vibrant, they fit into the size of a child’s hand perfectly, and they blend together so nicely. The quality of materials is top notch. You definitely get your value for your money because these last far longer than cheap crayons. They last my children many months of writing and drawing.
