Not much content
The book is interesting and maybe for someone who has just been diagnosed it could be useful. I found it rather bland, as most of this info is on line, and will not buy another book now. At least it was a book and not a magazine style as I have seen around.

Mrs M's review of an excellent book
Although I don't have Rheumatoid Arthritis but an illness called Sjogren's syndrome (looked after by the rheumatologists), I found this book excellent and very helpful. My main symptoms are severe joint pains and I do find it difficult to live with constant pain but I did find this book very uplifting. All the little day to day problems with practical help are covered very well (things you always forget to ask the doctor about!). It is a very useful book for anyone not just with R.A. but any rheumatic disease.

Good book, slightly misleading title
This book is really well researched, and sources given for all of the factual information in the book. It does give a very good overview of the condition, probably more than is available on health websites. While I learned some tips for managing the condition, I don't think that reading this book will help me to live a full life as suggested in the title. I think it will help people in accepting the condition and making the best of it, but a full life might be a bit of a stretch.I would still recommend this book on the basis of it being both informative and backed up by scientific research.

A book to be recommended
This is an extremeley useful book for both professionals amd laymen alike. Jasmine Jenkins has Rheumatoid Arthritis and became an Occupational Therapist as a consequence of her disability. The book covers all the subjects you would want to know about such as 'what is R.A.?';pain management; understanding medication; joint protection including the use of equipment; exercise and posture; relaxation and stress management; the work life balance; relationships and how to have a positive approach to what can be a very debilitating disease. Each chapter is well set out. She discusses all the research and treatments then gives her personal scenario at the end. This is informative without being dictatorial and shows the human side of the disease. For instance, when talking of pain management,'At other times I might get a recoil reaction from pushing or pulling something. This pain is intense but is short lived and is therefore bearable. A quick scream makes you feel better!'She gives understanding and hope to those with the disease by her coping strategies, and knowledge and insight to the professionals assisting those clients. A book to be recommended.

A very helpful book
This book is a helpful no-nonsense read for anyone with RA. It is also a helpful book to give to family members to aid their understanding. It has practical suggestions and helps steer you through the - often quite mystifying - process of adapting and dealing with medics.Well worth buying.

This book should be given to anyone who has been diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis
This book should be given to anyone who is diagnosed with Rheumatoid arthrtis asap. It is very frank and honest detailed account of all the known and unknown symptoms and issues that you may have by having rheumatoid arthritis. It explains how it may or will effect you and your family and goes on to explain how you can manage to live a full life, even though you may think that it is the end of the world. Excellent book
