A good soil scoop... with some dirty and sharp edges
This scoop is comfortable to hold and makes it easier to fill pots with soil; that is to say, it's generally what you'd expect. However the craftsmanship is a little rough (or sharp) around the edges and a little. The tool I received had dirt/manufacturing grit on the metal surfaces, and there were obvious minor dings in the shape of the scoop; it's a soil scoop, so whatever. More worrisome is the edging at the end of the scoop; that metal is slightly rough and borderline sharp; I wouldn't run a finger over it.So... Can you scoop dirt into a pot with it? Yes. Did I expect more from a $15 tool? Also yes.

Overall useful could be more ergonomic.
For the average gardener, this will work nicely. The scoop is not the same thing as a hand shovel or trowel, this is meant to be used for lightweight soil scooping from a bag into a container not digging into the hard ground. The metal scoop is large but you can simply scoop up less soil if a full scoop is too heavy for you. The raw wood handle will quickly look stained and ugly so if you have cooking oil wipe some on before using it to help the handle weather better. I would recommend this scoop overall I am pleased with the quality compared to the price.
