I didn’t realize what this was for, I thought it was a regular nail file. No it’s for the top of the nail. It shines the top of the nail like nail polish. No ridges just shiny and smooth.

The best nail files that last forever and don’t have that gritty feeling

I’ll admit that I am not a nail person. I’ve never had a professional manicure or pedicure, never worn artificial nails, and own no nail polishes. But like every other human, I want to keep my nails healthy and in a decent shape. This glass nail file works great for me. It makes quick work of reshaping my nails in a pleasing form and easily smooths any snags or sharp areas of my fingernails. I’m honestly impressed at how easy it is to use. I’m not sure why only one side is for filing while the other side is smooth - are you supposed to use the smooth side somehow? It doesn’t really matter to me, as the rough side does the job very well. I’m not sure why people don’t like it, but maybe the variation in hardness and shaping of the individual nails makes a difference. I am very satisfied with its performance on my boring nails.

I was not really happy with the filing side of the mail file. Then I was surprised there was nothing on the opposite side of which to file my nails. So I wish I had ordered another. It was a toss up of 2 or 3 stars
