This keyboard is supposed to be Mac compatible. But none of the boot-time modifier keys work. E.g. shift (safemode), Option (boot disk), Cmd-Opt-P-R?

Thanks for your question. First of all switch the keyboard to usb 6 key punch-free mode (Press fn+n to switch). Secondly keep pressing the option key after restarting.
