Awesome purchase
Allowing for the fact it's over 30 years old it's in excellent condition with no notes or marks on the pages.Awesome purchase. I'm well happy.

Solid but self-contained and not too original
As with "Caverns of Kalte", this book has the feel of biding time between books 2 and 5, which deal with the core storyline of the battle against the Darklords. In this adventure, the reader as Lone Wolf travels south to stop the summoning of a dead Darklord by a bandit chief.I felt the storyline, scenery and adversaries for this adventure were rather uninspired - it features a mainly human cast, with lots of bandits and suchlike but little of the originality of the monsters in books like "Fire on the Water", "Shadow on the Sand" and "Castle Death". This said, there are some interesting options and twists and turns, including a travelling circus and a possible route through a (mainly) abandoned mine. The quest is basically self-contained, bearing little relation to the ongoing saga (though the dead darklord Vashna does recur in another book); as a self-contained quest it certainly has merits, though this closure is somewhat disappointing in a series such as this.
