PERHAPS MORE PREDICTABLE BUT STILL ENJOYED
In the Lake District DI Kelly Porter is kept busy again. Two teen backpackers missing. Any link with earlier disappearances? Meanwhile at Wasdale Hall, the ninety-five year old Earl found hanging. Suicide or circumstances more sinister?Third in the series. It stands well enough on its own, but inevitably it helps to be familiar with certain previous aspects - not least why Kelly's horrible sister Nikki is now even more so. Again most appealing is the relationship between Kelly and mountain rescue man Johnny Frietz - all very physical as they jog, trek, swim and climb. Not only then.As a murder mystery, perhaps not as compelling as "Deep Fear", identity of the culprit far easier to deduce. Again a strength are descriptions of the Lake District itself, a truly magnificent area deserving greater respect by some of the tourists who flock there. Especially regretted are those who come unprepared for the long walks and high climbs attempted - so many unnecessary injuries, emergency services kept so busy.Certain reservations this time round, but still an enjoyable enough read. (One aspect may puzzle: if wishing to destroy the contents of a safe, surely there is a far easier way to do it.)

Couldn't put it down. Really good story & characters
Was looking for a suspense/thriller type book and these came up to purchase as a set of 3. I normally read Peter James. These books were really good and I couldn't put it down once I started.Loved the main character Kelly & her fractious relationship with her sister & over protected mum. Plus the new man in her life. Just ordered the next 4 books in the series
