Now I just need the Turkish Bath
OK, so I figured it was time to replace the fifteen yr old bath towels I stole from a Super 8 back in the 90's. Yes, I'm a single guy. Came here to Amazon with no idea what to get. Big and fluffy? Expensive? Cheap? Road Runner and Coyote? Came in blind, so to speak. Saw this towel and for some reason I thought of the Hitchhikers towel. Had to have it. Says it dries you off. Thats good. Says it dries fast and is pretty soft. Thats good too. Says it can save you in an intergalactic hyperfight with a deranged, or worse, drunk warf-moggler by just throwing the towel at one of his seven feet, and missing. That, also, would be good. Hey, one never knows. The one thing I do know is I now have a towel that rolls up small enough to be a companion on my travels through the galaxy or just to hang in the bathroom looking about as smug as a towel can.

Great towel for humid climate
If you look at pictures of bathrooms, the towels are all neatly folded. In real bathrooms, the towels are draped over rods to dry or wadded in a mildewing lump somewhere. The advantage of these towels is that they are dry within a few hours, even here in Florida. I admit that it takes a while to get used to drying off with what feels like a giant dishtowel. But you do get dry. And it is very nice to fold the towel back up in an hour or so. And it is also nice to have everything out of the dryer at the same time and not need to do the towels separately and forever.

Thin but effective
Another reviewer said drying off with a Pestemal Turkish bath towel is like using a dish towel to wipe down; I can't disagree...and yet...it's unbelievable how quickly I can dry off with something that has the consistency of my favorite kitchen towel. My family likes these towels so much that we're discussing transitioning all of our bath towels to the Turkish variety (with the exception of guest towels since most guests expect the fluffy version). One of the big advantages of these towels is that they do not get that moldy odor that I've come to associate with bath towels during the Southern summer. I can dry off quickly and hang the towel up, and within 45 minutes, it's completely dry and ready to use again and with zero yucky odor. The towel colors and patterns are pretty too; they look great hanging up, adding a bright pop of color to our decor. I wasn't sure what to expect when we purchased them, and they aren't cheap, but I would say the item is well worth the cost.

Great as a stylish scarf, towel not so much
I had originally purchased this "towel" in hopes that it would serve as a good quick drying towel for a backpacking trip. While the towel arrived promptly and was quite large and beautiful; it didn't serve the intended purpose. Perhaps it was because I didn't travel to extremely hot environments, but the towel didn't really dry all that quick as I had hoped. I ended up just using it as a scarf for the rest of the trip and borrowing a friends actual quick drying towel. It also felt rather weird drying myself off with it; like it wasn't really meant for this. Not really a towel but a very pretty, comfortable, and warm scarf. I wouldn't mind purchasing the other colors in the future ,but to be used as stylish scarves instead of a quick drying towel.

Good quality
I have read reviews for many of these turkish towels. I really wanted to try one but was afraid of getting a bad product. This is not one. This is a great towel. It is large, good to use as a wrap at the pool or beach. It is very thin and lightweight, but is actually pretty absorbent. I've washed it a few times and it has definitely gotten softer. The colors did not fade and the quality is good. I will be buying more

Lightweight towel good for gym bag
Very lightweight and good looking towel. I use it in the gym after a shower, and it dries me well. When I use it after a swim to wrap myself, it gets damp but there is enough absorbency left in it to also dry me post-shower. I prefer this a lot over stuffing a giant towel in my gym bag. Dries quickly. And it is huge, so I can wrap it like a sarong if I need to.I got the gray with orange stripes and it looks nice enough that I could wrap myself in it if I wanted to, during a casual picnic or while out in a boat. It obviously doesn't feel as plush on the skin as a regular bath towel, but if you are used to linen-style towels, this won't surprise you.

A year later, my favorite towel!
I first bought two of these, one for myself and one as a gift for someone about to travel. They arrived gift-ready, beautifully folded in fabric envelopes with a bead on a ribbon. I was surprised that something described as a towel seemed more like a large scarf or pareo, and honestly, didn't use it much at home. A year later however, as I had opportunity to use it (extra guests needed more linens) I experienced what other commenters described, which is that this is very absorbent and it really does get softer and softer the more it is used and washed. Also, it really does dry faster than thicker towels, so often it is the only dry one hanging near the shower. I realized I started reaching for it as my first choice towel, even in the winter, when I would have though I'd prefer something cushy. I even chose it over my terry bathrobe, since that stayed damp! When I ordered a second one, because now I really do like these better than all the other towels, and it is luxurious to have one for my hair and one for my body, and , I figured it was time to write a review. The bonus is that now I my spouse and I will each have one when we travel. Why 4 stars instead of 5? Because they are pricey.

Excellent craftsmanship
I really like these towels. I actually bought four of them in various colors. They're so pretty. You can tell that they are very well made; and they are compact, soft, and pretty absorbent. They are a bit thin though (a trade off when you want something compact). This means that it takes a bit longer to dry your hair after a shower than a thicker towel would. They did come out of the package smelling faintly of cigarette smoke. No big deal - you should wash your towels before you use them anyway. But overall, they're an excellent towel and I would buy them again!
