Great series, highly recommend
My kid loves these books. As a parent I have tried to instill the love of reading into my son and it has gotten easier overtime and we are reaping the benefits of the improved reading. Sometimes it was difficult to match the content level with his advanced reading level in addition to his interest in the content itself, however these books have seemed to be a perfect storm of sorts. He is 9 but reading at a 12th grade level and it wasn't until this series that we really saw a passion for reading show, he always liked it and did it daily but never sought it out as feverishly as he did with this series, he is sharing the story with us in addition to laughing and enjoying himself. I highly recommend them and we now own them all.

Lemony Snicket....
I enjoyed the "A Series of Unfortunate Events" immensely!!! And you do not have to be a kid to read these books! I actually stumbled across this author... My mother was in the hospital & someone had given me some old books, so being bored I started reading the 2nd book of this series. I enjoyed it so much, I went on Amazon and bought & downloaded the other 11 books!!! I'm giving them 5 stars!!! Enjoy :)

A bit dark but still good series
As usual the adults are dull and stupid, except for the evil ones who are also relentlessly after the children's fortune and find diabolical ways to capture them. The kids have given up on seeking help from their Banker Mr Poe, who was supposed to find them a guardian. But they are resourceful and invent ways to escape. Normally they stay together and work as a team, but in this episode the kids divide up to accomplish their task. Violet is captured and the two younger kids have to figure out how to rescue her. They discover a page from a report about the fire that killed their parents, which says there might have been a survivor. Needless to say they are greatly encouraged by this snippet of information and are now on a mission to discover the whereabouts of this report and the survivor of the fire. So the story is no longer without hope.

Never a dull moment
The Hostile Hospital yet again brings some great suspense and interesting circumstances that teach the reader new things in a fun way. The end is definitely one of the most cliffhangers yet.

Well well well. A hospital that retains secrets and has unusual medical practices keeps you reading and reading. Well done!

Don't bother reading the review, you have already made up your mind about the book
like all these books it's hard to put this one down. I bought the heard cover to complete my collection but I have to re-read it to tell you more about the plot. I do however remember finishing this one and weighting with anticipation for the next one.
