It's was easy enough to hook on the cage, but I had hoped it would have larger spaces for the chins to pull hay out. This would never work for a rabbit. The space between the bars in the front is too small for the hay to fit through or for the chinchillas or the rabbits to put their nose in to pull the hay out. I had to stuff the hay through. Even then, the chinchillas are just sitting on the top to eat the hay out of it . I'm not going to go through the effort of sending it back because I needed a wooden hay rack, and these weren't expensive at all. The next time I buy a hay rack when these are chewed up though, I will go with a larger metal one.

Bought in hopes of somewhat of a smaller version of niteangel's hay manger for a dwarf rabbit, but removed the bottom horizontal post though is probably do the middle if I had a do-over. Still taken out the top unless I pull it through and piles up on the bottom though for half the price, I like it more than a couple others we've tried. Also difficult to secure with provided washer. I will probably make one thicker and larger.

Perfect size and easy installation! I got two to try separately for my chinchilla and guinea pigs and both sets of animals love it and use it frequently. Much safer than metal racks and highly recommended all together. They look great!

i love this hay feeder and so do my chinchillas! you can hang it wherever on the cage the only thing is that it’s not really sturdy but there’s not really a problem. my chinchillas have a habit of climbing so they always jump on top of the feeder and i’m obviously scared if they’ll hurt themselves but they enjoy being in it so i don’t mind. just buy it it’s worth the cost. my chinchillas personally don’t chew on it but the wood provided is not harmful ! it already comes made all you need to do is attach the bolt !
