The author tops it off with a reminder that your work and personal life can strike a healthy balance with each other and both land successfully. What a great read with value for any age.

I could not put this book down. It is the best combination of personal and business life stories that led to Ted’s success.Shipping Clerk to CEO is full of wisdom and common sense. Ted Clark’s Shipping Clerk to CEO gives much needed guidance and optimism for professionals of all ages and levels of formal education on how to achieve career success that trickles into all aspects of a fulfilling life. The book details Clark’s journey as he endures hardship during his youth, dabbles in various “early starts” as a high school graduate, and eventually gets a job as a warehouse shipping clerk for a division of Products Research & Chemical Corporation (PRC). Throughout the book, Clark narrates every incremental advancement and critical lesson he learned along the way to becoming the company’s Chief Executive Officer.In narrating his path to the CEO position, Clark describes the professional mindset that any person, in any role, can use to overcome obstacles and reach their goals. As someone early in their career, I felt that the true story gave relevant, easy to understand, and encouraging advice. While the story does chronicle the details of his career at PRC between 1973 and 1999, Clark is always able to connect past events with life lessons that stand the test of time and can be applied to any situation. One major overarching theme is that of Clark’s lack of formal education past high school. His success shows that his lessons apply to everyone, regardless of their educational background. Much of the technical business terminology and metrics that Clark uses in the narrative are explained in an approachable way that make you feel as though you are learning alongside him as he grows and advances in his career. This among other aspects of his writing give the book a sense of accessibility, so long as the reader is committed to “never stop learning” (which happens to be one of the 15 lessons listed as chapter headings).I would genuinely recommend this book to anyone who is questioning their current trajectory, searching for clarity in the volatile economy of 2022, or just looking to ignite a fire under their seat and start growing in their career with Clark’s life-long lessons in their toolbox.

But it is more than a story it is a complete bluprint that literally anyone could apply to their life to achieve greater success. No you don't have to have an MBA to become a CEO. In fact, like Ted Clark you don't even have to have a college degree to become a successful CEO. The lessons that Ted Clark presents in this book are in the total control of ever person who reads it. It is a no excuses, you can do this book, but it is going to take perseverance and effort. Great book! I recommend it to high schoolers to those who are stuck in their job looking to improve and become more successful.
