Dueling Friends Battle for Most Unique Quilting Book Concept
--Imagine this:2 of your favorite traditional quilting authors get together over coffee. Each is already known for their own beautiful fabric lines. Each is a prolific author of highly revered quilting books and patterns. They decide the quilting industry needs a new type of book. It starts as a swap-based effort, because these are very, very busy girls. But the results are flexible enough you can do them on your own. They each employ 6 popular traditional quilt blocks. The result? 12 thoroughly gorgeous swap-or-not projects. Can it get any better than this?} } } Angel Choir { { {Yes. They end the book with not 1, but 2 sampler quilts.Kim Diehl and Jo Morton put their right-sided brains together to produce Simple Friendships. It is a pure delight to turn each page, gape, and ponder the divine fabric combinations.. You’re probably already familiar with these two artists. But each project is introduced with a little personal note, so you will get to know their approaches and concepts much better. The ever-efficient Ms. Diehl even sneaks in 2 suggested projects made from the scraps of 2 of these already scrappy quilts, plus an alternate setting on a third quilt. Ms. Morton astonishes with a 2 simple designs made spectacular with her famous era-based fabrics. There are some extraordinary borders. And the publisher elected to use the best sheened paper to show off these beautiful quilts. You won’t need a long-arm for any of the projects. The 3 largest quilts are 58.5” square, 60.5” square, and 62.5” square. The remainder are under 40” square, with the smallest 2 being 26.5” square. Curiously, all but 1 of the quilts are square. If you love domestic machine quilting, you won’t have to bypass a single quilt for being too unwieldy. As for supplies, you might need to make some purchases because a certain Ms. You Know Who is renowned for her love of applique. You’ll need your standard applique supplies, along with assorted gold felted wools, a bias bar, liquid fabric glue, perle cottons, and a size 5 embroidery needle. A Clover small yo-yo maker will be helpful.Accuracy is stressed, especially if swapping is involved. Assembly instructions are quite lengthy and include many tips from these 2 pros.Beautiful and buy-worthy, indeed.

Another great book from Diehl and Morton
Full of charming traditional quilts to inspire you. The illustrations and directions are clear and concise and I liked the little extra pieces of advice such as Using Directional Fabric and the guidelines for your group’s guidance.

KIM DIEHL É UMA DAS MAIS TALENTOSAS QUILTERS DA ATUALIDADE. SEUS PROJETOS SÃO INCRÍVEIS. O LIVRO TRADUZ A CRIATIVIDADE, O CAPRICHO E O CUIDADO DE UMA ARTESÃ DE RENOME. ATENDEU COMPLETAMENTE O QUE EU ESPERAVA. RECOMENDO A TODOS.
