In terms of a in-depth history book on The Who, respected music writer Chris Welch's 2012's Treasures of the Who' (republished three years later simply as 'The Who') falls short, but this was never intended to be one of those, but a treasure trove of photographs and memorabilia for die-hard fans or for people who are simply just interested in Sixties nostalgia. The text however does complement the pictures by providing over 26 chapters a brief but informative and easy-to-read overview of the band's journey from the early days in the Sixties to the millennium and beyond, which is great for those who don't require a lot of information or simply don't have the time to read a bulky bio. There are facts about each band member as well as discussions about the impact of their landmark albums.Presented as a scrapbook, inside you will find a wealth of simply stunning photographs, both in colour and black and white, as well as rare concert posters, tickets, programs, contracts and personal letters to fans, most of which are courtesy of an avid New York based fan. All of these extras make the book a joy to open up and flick through. This is a fine photographic biography than any serious fan of the Who or the Sixties will be pleased to have. If you're a long-term admirer, then it is sure to evoke some memories.
