The Etching Tool: Engraving Tip for the Silhouette by Chomas Creations, Made in the USA

OMG this is an amazing tool i use it in my silhouette and love it. it engraves my charms so beautifully i can not begin to describe how much i have and will use this throughout the years. this tool has a sharp carbide tip . It works in the Silhouette Cameo and the Portrait along with the other machines listed in both the ufind the right material to use this onpper and lower descriptions on the listing i also have these machines.Be very careful of the metals you use i like aluminum best. I use my Picscan mat to line up my engravings, and that works perfectly! the best way to do this is to make your trace and then copy and paste your trace on top of your other traces 3 to 4 works best for me. i will add a picture when i get a chance but i have already given away all the charms i have done. thank you for a great product!

Worked wonderfully at etching blank stamping plates we were using to make keychains to add to our end of the year teacher gifts. I stacked the design on top of itself 3 times then used the etch setting when sending to my silhouette and set it to double cut. I then rubbed with a sharpie to get the ink in the etching, after it dried I lightly buffed the top with a rag with rubbing alcohol on it to remove excess ink. Turned out great!

I ordered this tool to use for engraving charms with my Silhouette Cameo. While the engraving didn't provide as deep a cut as I'd expected or hoped for, it does etch the surface of the charms. After some research on ways to make the engraving more visible when using this tool, and after trying various techniques, I have found it to be useful for its intended purpose and have made several charms to use in necklaces and bracelets. This tip is accurately described as an "etching tool" - it is not a metal stamp and will not provide the same results as a metal stamp. And it's important to find the right material to use this on, if you don't want the layers underneath the surface to become visible (I discovered this the hard way by etching through a "silver-plated" material right to the copper-colored material underneath). But with a little research and practice, I am now enjoying making unique gifts with it.

i use this tool to engrave aluminum and it works amazing I use pressure 33 and 5 passes to get a nice etch in aluminum. I would recommend experimenting with different pressures and passes to achieve the look you want.

I love this tool , & it's really easy to use I wish it would make engraving a little deeper but I don't mind having to do a second engraving as a mom with 2 girls who likes monogram jewelry this tool is the best thing to go with my Cameo !!!

I have only used this product a handful of times. If you don't have the picscan mat, lining up can be tough. For the price and the product it did a great job etching into dog tags. Since I am a beginner with the silhouette I know once I master it, this will be a tool that I use often, specially when it comes to making Christmas ornaments. However, unless you're a pro at lining everything up, you might want to get the picscan mat, or you will waste some materials trying to line everything up properly.

This tool is better than the original silhouette stippling and engraving tool. It's sturdy and it's great quality. I will buy it again in the future!

Product is definitely made durable. Unfortunately I was unable to use (I ordered wrong one for my machine) 5 stars is for the seller prompt response and courtesy as well as a super awesome product. It's definitely worth the money (a friend of mine has one, hence why I ordered one). You will not be disappointed in this!
