I bought the Xodus after reading all the great expert reviews about this being one of the best for technical, long distance trail running shoes . The shoe does have everything. Good cushioning , rock plate and a great fit. Here is the downside… They are heavy and bulky. They have a high stack height and pretty stiff shoes without a lot of lacing options to lock them down. Conclusion: This is an amazing hiking shoe. Probably one step down from a hiking boot but it is still a shoe. You can definitely do technical terrain and they will definitely protect your feet! However, they are way to big and bulky to run in . I really think you would place a lot or pressure on your knees and back with running in these shoes ( similar to trying to run in boots) . I really would have a hard time believing you could run long distances and ultra runs in these (despite expert reviews) . Highly recommend these for hiking/ technical hiking. For speed and distance trail running , check out the Mad River TR (amazing shoe) or Peregrine for a little more technical terrain .Hope this helps

I just finished the Bataan Memorial Death March (2022) wearing these size 13 shoes. I wore them for about 40 miles to break them in - breaking in happened with lots of sharp and some round rocks the 'rock plate' in this shoe works really well - keeps the bottom of the feet protected. Great tread - looks and feels a bit like Vibram but is not - very good on the rocks and pebbles on the Bataan March. Uppers are nice and strong (I got the black colour). Has the classic Saucony fit; nice tight heel cup and wide forefoot for us with feet like ducks.

Like previous Xodus models, this shoe feels great right out the box. Fits to size. Great shoe for trail or distance road running.
