Doweling Jig for flush cabinet fronts
This is a simple-enough tool to use, but use requires careful "sighting" of each hole to be drilled. I have had one, purchased through Sears, for probably 30 years. What I like about it, which makes the one-hole-at-a-time tediousness of the set up worth it, is: You can use stock of dissimilar thickness, yet have one "face" perfectly in alignment, so the "face" of a cabinet framed by dowling pieces together will be flush. This works if you get simple cabinet stock of different dimensions (say 1" x 2", 1" x 3", etc.) where the thickness are never the same. If you use a self-centering jig, the pieces will be parallel, centered on each other, and their "faces" slightly offset. I prefer to have all the offset on the inside of the cabinet , and have the fronts smooth and flush. Adding: If you look at my youtube section, under OspreyD40, you can see a little film I made of a corner cabinet I built in 2008. The face structure, stiles to rails, was doweled together using my original Sears jig, that I've used on many projects. Works for me. The stock for the various pieces was of completely dissimilar thicknesses. As I noted originally, this jig lets me keep the front aligned, and the differences in thicknesses be at the rear, inside, where it matters little. I usually make everything with 5/8" dowels, for approximately 3/4" thick stock (nominal 1" x...). The jig hole for the 5/8" bit is tight, so the bit goes where I want.

Great Product
I Have used this many times. I have built cabinets for a living and used industrial equipment to make them. This product's Quality would match a machine many times more expensive

--------------------PLASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!--------------
DON'T BE FOOLED, (I WAS) In my opinion this is in NO WAY A "PROFESSIONAL TOOL"The design is WONDERFUL, but this tool was originally made of all metal. They remade it with plastic parts, which allows the tool to flex all sorts of ways when you use it. They made the plastic grey to give it the look of metal, and they use PRO in the name which is what through me (there's no way they replaced vital metal components with plastic in a "PRO" version right?) Like I said the design is great, it makes a very tedious job a lot better set it up once and you can keep repeating the depth and distance over and over- wonderful. At the time of this review 2023, you can still find the original version on ebay for under $30 shipped, There is a tell tale sign all 4 corners have ridges cast into the metal clamping portion (see picture). They cut cost so much on this unit they couldn't even cast the ridges in the plastic mold. I returned this and bought a "like new" old unit from ebay- much happier I hope this helps

The product itself is a great idea, the quality is questionable
The product itself is a great idea, the quality is questionable. It is not sturdy and once you fix it in place, the drill will shake the circular attachment and will not make a clean hole. if you want to make a perfect shelf, aligned edge to edge, you may not like the results. But ok for beginner woodworkers, it is easy to use thought,

A Neat LittleTool For Weekend Projects
This little doweling jig does the job good enough. It is surprisingly accurate and really easy to use. There is even instructions to help you out if you don't know how to dowel. I don't like the brad point drill bits because they clog up too quickly and won't clear the sawdust out of the dowel hole. But it's the easy too use jig..it's worth having in your work shop.

Works as advertised
This is a good kit for the money. The only drawback to this product is that it comes with only two of each size of dowel centers, which I ended up using often in my desk project. I would rather have used three dowel holes on the shelves, but was limited to two. Nevertheless, the kit is precise and easy to get used to. I did my dowel hole drilling very quickly.

Perfect
Works good. Just be careful bc not all wood is the same thickness even tho the price tag says it is. This will cause your dowels to be out of place. But works for me and I've build 3 projects that's I've used lots of dowles and glue for.
