Q: How is the fit? Snug in heel and midfoot?

I have a high arch and narrow foot. I bought these after trying them on because they fit snug throughout my foot and when I pull the laces in together everything is snug and very comfortable. Even without lacing up the shoes feel and have a very nice fit.

Q: Are these last years model with round laces?

I would guess yes. I bought mine last September (2021) and they have round laces. These are very comfortable shoes on my feet. I normally wear a 10, but I bought a 10.5 and they fit perfect. I don't care for the Oboz outer sole. They do not grip rocks as well as Vibram soles do. These can be slippery on rocks, especially wet rocks.

I have two different Oboz hiking shoe models. My experience is that, relative to each other, sizing is consistent. Note - I did go up one half size from previous Merrill’s.

Q: Are these last years model with the round shoelaces as shown?

They look like last years model which I own and am wearing but I don't know for sure. I don't pay attention to the subtle changes in the boots from year-to-year. I have loved mine.
