Very useful guide
I know the Cairngorms well but there were some walks in this guide that I didn't know of. Nice handy size with very clear route descriptions and guides. A great book for people wanting to explore this fantastic area.

Comprehensive guidebook - incredible walks
I have wanted a good walking guidebook to the Cairngorms for a long time, and this one is absolutely perfect. It is a really great size for carrying with you, and the quality ensures that, even after many walks in the rain and flicking through the pages, my copy still hasn't got damaged. There is a fantastic variety of walks, some much more challenging than others, all good lengths (between 6.3 and 18.4 miles) to ensure that you have a highly memorable day out in the Cairngorms. The highlight for me is the "shortcut" option on the maps, which gives you the option to shorten the route if (for example) the weather turns really bad. The route descriptions also provide details of local sites of interest or any wildlife you might see. The directions are very clear, with important details in bold text so that you are unlikely to go wrong. The beautiful photography adds to the impressive quality of this well-researched book. Highly recommended.

Inspiring selection of walks in the Cairngorms National Park
This book will inspire you to pack your boots and head to the hills. 20 walks in the stunning Cairngorms National Park, some familiar, some more off the beaten track. Each walk has OS 1:25000 maps to accompany the route, and key points are discussed in the text with a marker on the map. All the routes are circular and generally do not cover any ground already crossed on the outwards route, which is great. The book is a small handy size which easily fits in a jacket pocket, which coupled with the maps, is very handy.Overall a great pocket sized book which will inspire you to explore the Cairngorms, both high and low, short and long. If you managed to complete all 20 routes you will certainly have a greater knowledge and experience of this wonderful area.

Useless on its own
Purchased online in advance to pre plan and pre selected 5 walks to do ready for pending holiday. Actually did 2 and the book nearly went in the bin. Book widely available locally everywhere including charity shops and cheaper! On both walks we walked in total over 5 miles out of our way because - most places don't have a definitive postcode so you can't rely on sat nav. The book does not provide specific details on how to get to where the walk starts from and on both we started from the wrong point even after asking a local. In a place like this you don't get a 10 foot bill board advertising the forest or walk. Also the book is not accurate some things mentioned do not exist. Use the book as a general guide to see what walks are out there but to do the actual walk specifically you will need an OS map aswell. If you just pull out the book from your rucksack at the time expecting to follow the details you will either end up walking around wrongly without following a route, seeing nothing or divorced by tea time.

Stuffed with Great Walks for Hikers of All Abilities
If you're looking for a small guidebook to help you find the prettiest spots for walks on your next trip to Scotland, then Day Walks in the Cairngorms is ideal. This handy book offers 20 circular walks, from short valley strolls to breathtaking plateaus, each one taking in a scenic spot around the national park. The navigation instructions for the walks are easy to follow, although some of the more strenuous hikes might require map-reading skills and a compass to do in bad weather. My husband and I did two of the walks (Loch an Eilein and Meall a' Bhuachaille) on a trip to Aviemore, and found they were just the right length. We look forward to trying out a few more of the walking routes on our next trip.
