GROHE13307000 Eurocube Diverter Tub Spout, Starlight Chrome

Excellent solid brass quality. It's frustrating that there's no simple standard for connecting tub spouts. There should be! This requires a kind of hybrid connection -between a "slip-on" style where 1/2" copper tube protrudes 3+ inches from the wall and a threaded, "screw-on" style like the attachment of a shower head with a chrome nipple screwed into a female brass 1/2" drop ear elbow inside the wall. It's really designed for where the plumbing "rough-in" anticipated the type of in-wall connection required and I was going to return it but I really like this stylish design and I got an excellent deal from Amazon Warehouse so I knuckled under and spent close to 2 days figuring out how to successfully install this (not counting the week's wait for an esoteric component to arrive - a copper sleeve that's threaded on the outside that slides over the end of a 1/2 copper tube to provide a male threaded end). I used an oscillating tool to cut the existing copper pipe so that its end was 3/4" below the exterior surface of the tiling on the wall. I then used epoxy to attach the threaded sleeve over this tube and then the spout attached like a dream. It functions great, though is a bit counter-intuitive in that you push the chrome lever downward (not upward) to divert water up to the showerhead. One thing I particularly like about it is that as soon as you turn the shower valve off, the diverter opens and all the remaining water in the pipe between the shower head and the diverter valve, immediately flows out of the spout. This is a welcome feature for anyone using a "rainshower" type shower head as these otherwise drip water for up to an hour after turning the shower off.

I have bought 2 of these so far, and had to return both, because each time the item arrived with dents and gouges on the surface. (See included photos of spout 1 and spout 2.) The problem is the packaging, I think. The item is very heavy and very beautiful, but it is only wrapped with a thin piece of bubble wrap, which is not enough to keep it from moving inside the box. Because it is very heavy and is loose inside the box, it rolls around with the other items inside, during shipping. I'm really surprised that a high-end company like Grohe packs this so poorly. I am ordering it a third time, but I have a feeling the next one will be all dinged-up as well. Poor quality control on Grohe's part.

The product looks nice and good quality. Unfortunately, as stated by a prior buyer, it came full of dents / scratches. Amazon offered me a small discount if I want to keep the product. I'm still hesitating to keep it and ordered a new one hopping it will come dents-free this time.

I had to buy a second unit as a replacement. The first unit failed as the water failed to divert. However the finish and aesthetics of the item are great. Too bad about the first unit.

We replaced the Delta spout that had come w/ otherwise wonderful parts because it was basically plated plastic. This Grohe was heavy duty and complimented the square look of the Delta components. Highly recommend.
