Fix-It and Enjoy-It: All-Purpose, Welcome-Home Recipes

I've just bought this book and haven't yet tried any recipes, but as a fairly experienced cook, I can tell just by leafing through that these are basic recipes that anyone who likes to cook will want to have on hand. So many cookbooks are so specialized and filled with complicated recipes that real home cooks are unlikely to have the time, patience, or the ingredients on hand to make. This one is filled with your Grandma's and church friends' recipes. I'm sure I'll use it often, and can't wait to get busy!

I've been stocking up on copies to give as Christmas gifts after buying one myself and finding an abundance of tasty-sounding recipes. Very easy-to-follow directions make this ideal for less-experienced cooks. Experienced cooks will enjoy the recipes shared by other good cooks from all over America.

I have several of Phyllis Pellman Good's books for slow-cookers. Imagine my delight when I spotted this one featuring all kinds of recipes for the stovetop and oven.On a weekly basis, this will be one of the cookbooks I use for my dinner menus. The recipes are tried and true. They have easy-to-find ingredients and many include variations for the more adventurous cook to try out.When I have made a dish using a recipe from any cookbook, I make a note whether it was good or not. I also may include my own variations. This book is full of my own notes stating how wonderful this or that recipe is.The only item missing is a picture for the recipe but if pictures were included in any of her books, she wouldn't be able to give us so many great recipes in one edition.

This is great for cooks who want to make a quick, simple meal without a world of effort. I gave it to my daughter, who is a beginning cook, and she says she uses it often.

I bought this as a gift for my niece who wanted to learn some easy-to-do recipes. She loves that the recipes aren't too advanced and don't have a lot of ingredients unknown to her.
