KenwoodDPX-794BH 2-Din CD Receiver with Built in Alexa, Bluetooth and HD Radio

Sounds good. Has lots of ways to customize your sound. The controls are old-school. People born before touch screens and smart phones know what I'm talking about, but to those born after it may seem unintuitive. Looks good. Colors are good. I like the dimmer. Hd radio is cool. Bluetooth connects seemlessly and automatically to my phone which is a MUST. I don't want to have to fiddle with buttons to get my music playing.

I purchased the Kenwood Excelon DPX794BH, to replace a base model factory radio in my 2014 Jeep Patriot. There are some really good features on this unit, which I really like, but there are some really bad designs which outweigh those good features. The Good:Installation was straight forward and went well with the applicable Crux brand interface harness and Scosche brand trim kit. This unit has a very nice looking face and display with well designed buttons. The display's back lighting is customizable to any color to obtain an exact match to the vehicles back lighting. The EQ has 13 frequency adjustments, which allows perfect sound adjustment for the vehicles interior size, shape and speaker configuration. I found the Excelon sound and power output, excellent which gave a fantastic sound even with the Jeep brand factory speakers. This unit has a ton of customizable features that I would have not expected from a head unit under $300. The Bad: The entire outside surface of the face is plastic, which has a very high gloss finish. Within two days of using and adjusting all the features, I noticed the gloss was worn off at all the contact points. I tried cleaning and polishing the touch points to return the shine, to no avail. During the daytime, all the buttons and points of contact looked dull and almost marred. These surfaces looked worn, as if the unit was used and operated for a year or more. But the worst part is the navigation of all the controls and features. It took several hours to adjust all the functions and features, because of all the enormous steps that each adjustment requires. I believe what Kenwood has done, is built and nice looking NON-TOUCHSCREEN car stereo/audio head unit, packed with all the features you could imagine that are designed to be used on a TOUCH SCREEN head unit. Since there is limited space on the display, almost all of the buttons have several functions. Combine this with features/function that require several steps, causes even the simplest function to be difficult and time consuming at best. Also, the large volume knob is shallow, poorly shaped w/no grip material, making it very difficult to use. Because of the all the features that require some way of control, the limited display is quite crowded. So there are some features missing, like a mute button and a basic on/off power button. The only way to power down the head unit is to push the audio selection button multiple times until you reach the standby mode or hold the button down for 5 seconds to power off the unit. All of the customizable sound features are also very difficult and easily confusing, which took the bulk of my time to adjust. Plus every time a sound feature is adjusted, the volume is completely muted for a few seconds after the adjustment is made. Very annoying. Of all the car stereo audio systems that I have used, this one by far if the most complicated and difficult to use. That's a real shame, since the audio quality is outstanding.For those reasons I would not recommend this unit. I'm very surprised Kenwood would design and build a head unit this way, especially in the Excelon line.

Installed this in my 2004 f250 Super Duty single cab and it took my sound quality to 11. I was prepared to spend on new speakers because i assumed they would sound horrible, but after messing with the VERY capable amplifier, which has so many settings other units do not, the sound was better then my friends 2012 f250 which has a crew cab and more speakers. Very happy!

There’s a great radio. I got the serous XM antenna and that works great with it I enjoy the voice control visitation and all the extra little features it has on it. Bluetooth works great. And despite what Amazon thing this is not a touchscreen

I like the large volume knob, lots of multi ports to play music. Volume only goes to 35 but that's ok. Easy to navigate.

I really like all the adjustments to the settings.I really hate how it decides out of nowhere to change itself to HD radio. Conveniently it changes to some religious station every time no matter what station I had it on. GOD! Is that you..? Scrolling through all the inputs is annoying. Screen looks like old technology.Last but not least, it’s inability to connect to an older iPod and my brand new phone is just plain dumb. Part of that issue is Apple…Overall it’s decent but paid too much for it!

Higher end unit. Lots Lots of options Worked perfect for about 2 months then something happened to the clockand can not be set any more. Trying to get hold of supplier.Does anyone know how to get this adjusted or replaced?The company informed me what was wrong in the settings when I asked them.It fixed the time problem easily. Turn sync time off. All ok now. Would buy this unit again for sure. Seller gave very good service.
