Amazing Fragrance with an Amazing price
Absolutely fantastic scent, it really does smell like a walk through a cold damp moss covered forest but not overpowering at all. It's scent also does not move too far outward from the spot you put it making it known to those who are close enough to notice but not to those across the room. The longevity of it also is about 6 to 7 hours I've noticed but there will always be a faint trace of it afterward to someone who will be closer to you (I.e. your partner). Really recommend this to anyone looking for a soft damp earth scent without breaking the bank and the publics nostrils.

Just buy it
I absolutely love this scent it. I never try new sprays but decided to give this a try I’m glad I did. I would buy this over and over again. 100 percent and definitely would try other scents by this brand. This one will definitely be my new signature smell

Lullaby
Let me start by saying I wasn't sure what I was expecting as it was a bit of a blind buy. I read about it on a comment on a reddit thread of all places about scents that reminded them of the roaring twenties. I was looking for something woody/subtle for the colder and darker days. From the reddit comment, I read that Encre Noire was woody, almost like walking through a damp forest on a rainy day. That description intrigued me enough to try it out. I bought it on Amazon almost right after without ever having smelled it before.Anyway, I'm pleasantly surprised by Encre Noire. From the first spray on my wrist I knew it was the type of scent I've been looking for to round up my meager collection. Straight away Lullaby by The Cure came to my mind from the first whiff, and I don't mean that in the stereotypical way, as if to say this scent is only for goths, something to wear at a deathsday party, or at a funeral. It's just that it's subdued and moody in its profile and that intrigues me more. It does have the rain forest smell, but I'd say it's a bit smokey as well. I feel like it's a scent that I could wear everyday and not feel like a walking fragrance shop. It's clean, moody, and quite unique. I don't think I've ever smelled anything like it before on anyone.Anyway, the true kicker in all this is that it's relatively cheap. There's not much to lose in trying it out. If you don't like it, then it's not like you blew through a hundred, or hundreds, of dollars on some scent. I spent around $30 for my bottle. However, I'm quite happy with it and I see myself buying it again once I finish the bottle.

Dark and interesting scent
This is the dark and handsome cousin of other Vetiver fragrances. It smells like night time, and every now and then, you catch the unmistakable namesake note: black ink. Did your fountain pen explode? Nope. Not to worry. Then, the woody forest floor's brooding smell returns. It's calming and a real alternative to the ambrosia bombs (Sauvage, YSL Y) and vanilla and citrus scents (Versace, Le Male, etc.). This is what I find most interesting about it, but many, many people will NOT like this unusual scent.

Underwhelming
"Encre Noire" translates to "dark ink", and well...there's no false advertising here ( that's the only reason I'm giving it three stars) because it smells like ink, alright - I mean, literal ball point pen ink - and not much else. It's very one dimensional to my nose and I'm not sure what the hype is about or if the folks describing it as a "dark, damp forest" scent are younger customers who've grown up in an era of digital schooling, may have never smelled pen ink before, and maybe this seems exotic to them? This was a blind buy for me, luckily it didn't cost much. I still use it for layering, occasionally.I've tried a sample of the L'Extreme version, which has more depth, but even that still has a very pronounced ink scent.

Dry, understated cedar. Perfect if your partner doesn't like LOUD scents.
I realize that this fragrance has been out for a while, but I just got a bottle of it for the first time this week. It is like a classy, dry white wine. Strong note of cedar and not a projection powerhouse. As my wife says, "I want you to smell good when I kiss you, not smell you before I see you." Well, this is that kind of fragrance. Dry, understated -- just what I was looking for. Immediately bought a second bottle. Think of it as the anti-Ax Body spray. It's for you, not the room.
