Deltana DSF3225U3 -- a good quality, nice solid-brass bumper
[ SEE UPDATES BELOW ]After some flinging door entrances from kindergarten-returning offspring, I bought this bumper for the main entrance door of the house. The Deltana DSF3225U3 is a floor mounted, heavy (0.7 lbs), polished, solid-brass bumper well suited for entry-door duty and exuberant children.PRICEIt is not inexpensive. At the time of this 2020 update, its price here is slightly higher than that charged by some hardware stores (that will additionally charge for shipping), and but still lower than the Deltana's list price. Surprisingly, the Deltana DSF3225CR003, a polished brass model with a supposedly lifetime, PVD finish --i.e., a physical vapor deposition yielding a durable surface resistant to corrosion and tarnish-- that looks like a more intense polish and helps protect hardware from moisture and salt air, is cheaper than the DSF3225U3 model. This was not the case when I bought the bumper 5 years ago.DESIGNAs shown in my attached figure of the Deltana's technical drawings, the bumper is 3" tall and has a 2.5" circular base with 3 holes; it has a black, rubber-like bumper that protrudes 5/8" and does not mark (or mar) the door. It comes with suitable anchors and cross-head screws. Though the Deltana's drawings call for the equilateral triangle formed by the three holes in the base to be aligned so that the plane between the front two holes is parallel to the bumper's contact face (see the figure's bottom drawing), a design that should facilitate the installation with best contact with the door, this was not true in the bumper I received.INSTALLATIONIn my experience there are two items to keep in mind. One is to lock the door when kneeling behind it to install the bumper --or place a wedge it if it cannot be locked-- to avoid being hit if the door were opened abruptly. The other is to place the bumper so its (black rubber) face matches that of the door at its stop position, thus providing good stopping contact and decreasing marring risks. To ensure the latter, I first drilled and inserted only the back screw and fine tuned the bumper position by rotating it until its face was exactly at the plane of the door's stop position; I then marked the spots for the two front screws, rotated the bumper 180 degrees to drill their holes, turned the bumper back to its final position, inserted the other screws, and tightened all three after verifying a good contact. It is a nice product, worth recommending.UPDATE (September 2018)Three and one-half years later looks as good as the day it was installed. No problems whatsoever.UPDATE (January 2020)This bumper is really resistant. We have a heavy solid-wood front door. In addition to its keyed entry locks, a sliding bolt was mounted at the point between the lower and the middle third of the door for night use. One evening, when the entire family was returning home, we found the bolt was locking the door -- of the usual suspects, one of the dogs who has learned to press the door's handle to open it has yet to confess to pushing the bolt when they were alone. I had to kick the door open (breaking its wood frame where the bolt's strike plate was attached), flinging it at high speed towards the bumper. Although it left a visible indentation on the door, the bumper survived the crash with any damage or becoming loose. Looks as good as new. Good design and manufacture!

Perfect and Solid
We bought this to assure a door didn't hit newly installed cabinetry. It is solid brass and black. It is solid (heavy) and it could take a pounding. It came with screws for wood and a bolt for concrete installation. The tricky part in the installation (for wood) is that the screws have to go in at an angle for the screw heads to lay flush with the base. It took me a few tries to get it right. I don't think it will ever break. It looks good and is the last one we'll ever buy. I'd buy it again (if ever needed).

Sturdy, easy installation in wood floor, looks great
Needed a door stop which was tall enough to contact the bottom of our door and matched the oil rubbed bronze hardware around our house. This one fit the bill perfectly! A little pricey, but it's very well made, nice finish and solid. Installation was simple by drilling pilot holes into our wood floor then simply screwing this in.

Very solid
Have not yet installed, but the screws, etc. are included. It's very substantial and attractive. I thought it was pricey, but it's also sturdy and classy.

Heavy duty.
Heavier than I expected. Had it installed and so far is working fine. Needed it to stop a glass lanai door from opening into landscaping around the lanai.

Great buy!
Drill through tile and concrete slowly with correct bit. In wood, install is easy. . .just go slow in stone. Looks great and will last forever!

Looks nice. No instructions.
Nice looking stopper. Unfortunately it was not tall enough for me to use. No instructions but I didn’t end up mounting it anyway.
