Vandoren CM342 B44 Bass Clarinet Mouthpiece

Great mouthpiece but get the warranty. My son cracked the first one, so I have protection this time around.

Good for classical playing. The unit I got had unbalanced railings, so I had to return that one. Need to get a few and choose the best one.

Got a used Selmer Bass that had the stock Bundy #3 facing mouthpiece for my son, a second year clarinet player. He was having attack issues in the upper registers. Varous web reviews and forums indicated that the Vandoren B45 and B44 mouthpieces were a good general upgrade for students of his experience. As he also has a an Alto and Vandoren only offers the B44 for that instrument and I want to maintain some consistency, I chose the B44 for this application.This mouthpiece has given immediate satisfaction for many of the airflow issues he was struggling with. We don't see it as his final mouthpiece as he still needs to further develop his emboushure and airflow control and expect to have a more refined search a year or two down the road. Do recommend it over the stock Bundy #3 for a beginning to intermediate player.

My son loves it.

I didn't get on with this mouthpiece and replaced it with a B50. However, it is good quality being a Vandoren and probably would work well for many players much better than me.
