RoadPro RPTT-1 Wooden Tire Thumper, 19-Inches, Assorted Dark or Light Wood

Well, this unit is good for the intended purpose, thumping tires for a quick check. It is a bit large than I was expecting, but serves the purpose. I mean, it is simply a piece of wood turned round and finished.

I love this thing. I use it for two purposes. One I drive semi-trucks, so I use it as a tire thumper, and two I use it for protection. My co-workers always give me a hard time, because it looks like it could do some damage. People never assume that I would drive a semi truck, and while it's nice that people want to pull over and help if they see a woman broke down, or I may need to pull off if I need to fix something sooner than my next exit will be, it can also be a little scary at times because you don't know who you're being approached by. I do wish we had a choice of colors though, because I didn't receive the color I was hoping for, but I can guarantee when it helps me catch a bad tire before going out, or if someone tries to hurt me, I'm pretty certain color won't be a factor at that time.Revised :I still love this tire thumper. The reason I'm revising this is because I noticed where a few people asked if they would get in trouble for having it in their car. I live in Missouri, and I carry this in my backpack because the truck I drive is driven by other people that work in the company too, so I don't want one of them to take it. They all have their eye on it because they like it. Anyway as I said I carry it in my backpack, and I've had police officers see it and they've never given me grief, but maybe it's different state by state.

10 November 2020Recieved the tire thumper yesterday. I brought it in to work and the second (2nd) tire I thumper with it the handle breaks. Snapped clear through! I had a cheap road pro tire thumper, the dow rod with the weight on end, for nearly 20 years before it broke. Needless to say I am not pleased. I guess I should not be surprised it does have a "Made in China" sticker.16 November 2020Update. Recieved tire thumper 7 days ago. Have used it a total of 4 and a half days at work. The first day the handle breaks. I take it home and clean it up and continue to use it. On day 5 of use not even halfway through my morning inspection the whole thing breaks in two. This is ridiculous! I'm going to try and get my money back!

Really good at “thumping tires”

We had a bump in the night a few nights back where some drunk kids were tossing balls against our walls at about 4 in the morning. Before realizing the situation, I ran downstairs, adrenaline pumping, in my pajamas, while armed with my...fire extinguisher. Within about 30 seconds I realized there was nothing to worry about, but I thought that it was time to have a more proper home defense weapon.This tire thumper is just what I was looking for. The solid copper weight at the end of the bat gives the bat more momentum when swinging. The short leather strap fits snugly around the back of your hand (it's not meant to go around your wrist), adding to security in case someone tries to wrestle it from you or you get a bit to enthusiastic when testing tire pressure. It's just the right size to give you adequate reach while one-handed. I'd much rather use this than a standard baseball bat which would be clumsy indoors, especially two-handed.I suggest buying a few of these and keeping them throughout your house or in your car. I also suggest keeping your fire extinguisher right next to your home defense weapon. Fires are much more common and take more lives each year than robberies. But it's important to have both fire and security protection in the house.Let's hope this never has to be used, but like my dad used to say, "hope for the best, plan for the worst".

This is a really nice tire thumper. It is the duty of all motorists to maintain a proper pressure in their tires at all times. This is a solid piece of safety equipment, and it looks nice too. It can also be really useful for others, for example just today I was getting gas and a rental car with a family, they appeared to be Kenyan, drove up with visibly low tires. Since I could tell there may be a language barrier, I pulled out my trusty ol' tire thumper and just walked right over to them and started to give their tires some good thumps. Didn't have to say a word, and you could tell by the looks on their faces, that they realized how low their tires were. They immediately sped off to find a working compressor (so fast he forgot to take out the fuel hose, tore it right off!! LOL). Anyways, It just felt good to help a visitor out and really make them feel welcomed. Spread good will to all men, one thump at a time.

5 tire hits and it broke in half. Looks like good heavy oak inside. Must have had a crack before manufacturing.

I like the product its very sturdy and will do what it's intended for. My husbands a trucker and needed something with him to check his tires and also as a minor protection item for his truck and this was something that would be allowed by his company. The reason I gave it 4 stars though was because when the product came to us it was heavily dented up and heavily scuffed up well . thats not a big issue because of what it'll be used for.I t will get more dented and scuffed up my husband wasn't pleased that it looked like it had already been used a few times when it came to us so I docked a star for that reason.Update.I bought this for a second time. My husbands buddy wanted one for his truck so he gave him his and our second purchuse was for him. Upon getting this item for a second time it again came looking used. It was dented, scratched, and even warped. Fustrated to say the least about it. I again docked another star because of this. It will work just fine but I purchased 2 times and they both came in crapy shape.
