Great product, incredible value, amazing customer service
We've used this car-top carrier for a couple of years now. It's sturdy and easy to install every time. It's easily the best purchase I've made for our family road trips. Also, the customer service is truly outstanding. I lost one of the plastic spacers/fixators last week and emailed Mockins customer service about a replacement. They responded within minutes and sent me a new one immediately.Mockins is all around an incredible company. I can't recommend their products enough!

I purchased this for a road trip and it happened to rain the same day we left. It lived up to its reputation by keeping all our belongings dray. Plus the additional height off the hitch allowed me to back into spaced where I would not hit the curb. Great Purchase.

works great.
I've been wanting a cargo tray like this for a while. It was fairly easy to put together. The side rails didn't exactly line up, but it was easy to bend them back in place to make the tray walls line up suing a few taps of a rubber hammer. I don't foresee that being a problem. This one was installed on a Subaru Outback which has an aftermarket trailer hitch (Hidden Hitch). I was pleased that when fully packed the rear door opened just fine. The vehicle handled well with this thing loaded down even. I was a bit worried as the rated tongue weight is about 250lbs, and this cargo rack is fairly heavy. Ideally, I would buy a much lighter rack (made of aluminum? carbon fiber? plastic? Fancy THULE or Yakima? I dunno what's out there on the market...), but at the price point, I'll gladly settle for a heavier one. That being said, yo are advised to make sure you know your vehicle's rating and to pack accordingly. It's definitely a bit of a hassle to zip the bag closed and secure it with straps, but for the piece of mind definitely worth it to do a good job securing it down well. I only used it once so far so cannot comment on durability or weather resistance. I imagine the bag will eventually wear out, but it does seem quite sturdy and made with thick material. It held water on the inside since we packed our wet inflatable kayak in it, so I suspect it would be quite waterproof in a heavy precipitation. It's a hassle to fold it up/down, and folding it up does block my rear door, so it's mostly going to just be an on/off thing. Getting the hitch lock on was difficult, but that might vary depending on what kind of hitch you install it on. the rubber rings on the hitch lock were just a bit too thick for me, but with some work, I can get it on. Definitely a good idea to use the hitch stabilizer plate.Overall, I definitely recommend this product. I imagine most are similar at this price point though, but don't know for sure. I bought this one mostly because it came with the bag and straps, etc.Pros:- good price- lots of accessories- works well,- quality, sturdy buildCons:- heavy- a bit tricky to work with a bag and zipper, a solid plastic box would be easier to deal with but that would have its own cons as well

You get what you pay for.
Shipping was fast, as was assembly.I believe it took about 15-20 minutes, at a leisurely pace.Problems I had:First....one side of the frame was twisted. Once I placed the plate with the orange lettering on one side, you can clearly see the unassembled side did not line up. And it's off by a lot.Secondly.....one of the bolts used to screw the second plate on, didn't have a groove cut into it. I suppose I could have pulled out a Dremel to make a groove, but I tightened it enough.Third..... you better have a rubber mallet, as you are going to need to force the 4 bolts that hold the hitch rail to the carrier platform, through the holes. They don't line up well.I haven't used any of the accessories yet. We'll see how it handles a 2400 mile (round) trip, and rate it again

So glad I bought this
Every year we drive north in our SUV chock full of stuff for the summer. This year I put my foot down and said this is too dangerous, I will not drive the NJ turnpike with a car loaded to the brim! It took a while to convince my husband, with a threat he would drive by himself while I fly by air. It arrived in 3-4 days as promised. Installation was a breeze with my help in lifting it on to the trailer hitch. Now my husband just rants and raves about this wonderful carrier to all his friends. We even had people ask us in the hotel parking lot what we thought of it so far wishing they had bought one for themselves with a load of kids and dogs starting they're summer vacation. With the new cars having safety cameras on all sides of the vehicle, the only problem we encountered was the back up sensor. At first I thought I had backed into something in my brand new car, but then it was the car itself braking sharply! When I remembered the ton of stuff covered securely on the back of the car, I pressed the gas lightly and all continued well. So be prepared, don't freak out if you have a back up sensor. Upon arrival we unpacked our belongings. Even the potholes on the roads of NJ and NYC did not bother our dishes or glassware. I would highly recommend this company and product for a huge peace of mind while moving, camping or just transporting equipment that would not fit in the rear of your vehicle.Lastly, being able to fully recline the front passenger seat without boxes or suitcases blocking the rear seat enabled each of us to take a snooze while the other was behind the wheel.

Sturdy
Quality product. The accessories seem to be good quality especially the bag. I always like a sturdy big zipper for items like this and this has that. I like the lock for the bag and locking feature for the hitch along with the straps and net this is a really good complete package and I am sure will get years of use.
