Dean and Tyler Wire Basket Muzzle, Size No. R3 - Large Rottweiler

I purchased this muzzle for a two year old Rottweiler that I was dog sitting for a neighbor who was on a month long vacation. The dog had not been neutered and it became my job to take him to the vet for that purpose. I did not know the dog all that well and did not trust him around strangers. I purchased a large size plastic muzzle at a local store - it was way too small for this dog and the directions stated that it should not be worn for more than 20 minutes or so - so I returned that muzzle and ordered the "Dean and Tyler Wire Muzzle" from Amazon. What a difference - this muzzle fit perfectly on the Rottweiler and it could be used for an even larger dog due to the long leather straps and well designed wire face piece. The muzzle has a padded area to fit the top of the dog's nose for the dog's comfort. The dog can drink from a large bowel with this muzzle in place and the direction state that it can be worn for an extended time. This is a well made muzzle and recommended for use with Rottweilers and other large dogs. I recommend it highly and can find no fault in its workmanship, materials, or design. I should mention that after working with "Rocky" for a month he is now leash trained and I trust him without the muzzle but it served well during early training.

This is a high quality muzzle but the sizing was very unclear. I'm not sure why I bothered with the tape measure because the size I received was FAR too big. I should have returned it at the time but my new dog was so sketchy I didn't trust him enough to really try it on him for a time. Now I'm stuck with it and would consider ordering a smaller one but only with the assurance that I could return it if it doesn't fit.

This muzzle has changed my Rottweilers life. He is not aggressive but has begun barking at other dogs that pass by. He is vocal and really does just want to play or be pet. At 150 pounds, he concerns other people/dog owners and I have tried everything to make him stop. I am using a prong collar and clicker and he can still pull me when he wants to "play" with other dogs. When I put this on him he knows it is time for business and he acts like the gentle, sweet, well behaved boy that he really is. He actually quits the pulling with this on too, I am amazed. People no longer walk the other direction when they see us coming.The fit is perfect and if you follow the directions on the website you cant go wrong when measuring your dogs snout. It is well made and my dog does not mind it when we put this on him. I was super surprised that he didn't struggle with me the first time I put this on him. Walks were becoming stressful and I found myself avoiding public, which actually make this problem worse.Thank you for making walks pleasurable again. Love love love this!!!

We purchased this for our 120lb African Mastiff’s bath time. She’s a good girl but at the end during dry time she tends to get a little cranky, so it had been hard to give her coat the attention it needs (Boerboels have a coat that just sucks up water). A few times we had to leave her tied up to drip dry (in the shade!) for a little bit. Not anymore. This muzzle makes it so much easier to dry her off - sure she’s still upset and growling and baring her teeth, but she can’t do much more than that, and it allows us to make sure she’s having a positive experience while we tell her she’s a good girl instead of getting frustrated. The muzzle seems to be comfortable on her, and I love the padded piece on the bridle for her nose. Great purchase, this size fit our girl perfectly.

So original I got the large rottie one (even though the measurements were correct) the padding was pushing into my 1 yro eyes. The medium fits ok not perfect but I guess even though the measurements are close not every dogs muzzle is the same. I did try to contact the seller to see if it was a defect but even after going to their site I couldn’t find the info I was looking for

This muzzle has been a life saver both literally and figuratively. I rescued an abused 130lb American Bulldog with a massive head(kinda looks like a mastiff) and it fits him great. We used it for about 3 months to socialize him without having to worry about him attacking other people or dogs and it worked really well. The padding is great and even after wearing it for hours he hasn't had any abrasions on his skin at all. He did manage to bend the metal on the basket once, but it bent right back into place so I attribute this more to the fact that he is an extremely strong dog and not so much to the quality of the muzzle. All in all this is the best quality basket muzzle you will find anywhere and it is well worth the money.

Worked for a couple of hours then the dog ate the top strap wouldn't recommend for use on Rottweilers

I use this mask for my 85lb male pitbull who has decided he hates one particular dog in our home. He wears the mask any time he is out of his kennel (whenever we are home) and he gets to take it off about an hour before bedtime. Total time in the mask per day is probably around 8ish hours. We previously tried using first a mesh muzzle (which prevents him from drinking, panting, and enjoying his life. We did not like it because it was not practical for long term use. Second we used a hard rubber basket muzzle. This worked for a few days until it began to rub his nose (rubbed the fur off then began to give him blisters). My second problem with a rubber mask is it has nylon straps that his partners in crime chewed off him while in the back yard playing. This brings me to the Dean and Tyler wire Basket Muzzle. This muzzle is the best he has ever had. The flap truly does prevent his blisters. The straps are made of a much stronger fo-leather. The mask adjusted in EVERY way possible and has strong metal grommets to keep everything in place. The muzzle does not get too hot (can and does get too cold) but if it is too cold for the muzzle he isnt outside long anyways. I highly recommend this mask to anyone with the same issue. MY ONLY CAUTION.. Do not use the recommended sizes! This one says large rottweiler like I said it fits my pitbull great. The only size that says pitbull wouldn't even fit his face at all. Be prepared to have to return it for a different sizes to find the one you need for your lovable lug.
