Far more durable than standard Pirazzis! Warmer tone.
I've been using Evah Pirazzi cello strings for a couple years now, only once trying another brand to come running back to this excellent brand of strings. When I saw this new "Gold" line, I simply HAD to try it out at least once to see if they were worth the extra cost.Short story: YES! ABSOLUTELY WORTH THE EXTRA COST! With my only reservation being they have warmer tone, which can be good or bad depending on the string, the instrument, and the player.I've had these strings on my cello for 8 months now. 8 months! While it had become routine to replace my standard Pirazzis every 6 months because that was the limit before they started to become unruly, these Pirazzi Golds have survived Spring, Summer, and Fall and are still going strong as Winter starts to settle in. I have no problems paying more for strings if they can last twice as long! These strings have the same amazing response as the standard Pirazzis. However, they have a distinctly warmer tone. If you're doing a featured solo anytime soon and have a generous budget, I'd stick with the standard Pirazzis as they're going to have more high end to help you stand out from the ensemble. However, if you're part of the ensemble, on a tighter budget but still want quality, or are confident that you won't be competing for soundspace, these are fantastic strings! Buy them!

I notice a much better respond on the G and C strings with too ...
I had Jargar strings on my cello and decided for the Evah Pirazzi Gold, and after replaced them, the cello improved a lot the sound. It is warm and focused. I notice a much better respond on the G and C strings with too much resonance. Also the A strings work very well on the upper registry so it sounds like a violin on the treble notes. My teacher tested it and got surprised with the results and he said he's going to try these strings for his cello. I really like and of curse I recommend them for any one that looks for an improvement of his/her cello.

Tone
The string(s) tell at me with a warm tone for the c and g strings while the an and d strings are attacking with a sharp sound similar to dominant strings. The string peg end colors are at the topC - BlueG - BrownD - RedA - BlackThe tailpiece color(s) are- Gold with a threading of blackOverall these strings are very impressive warm and attacking, as a student cellist with 4 years of playing, i definitely recommend these strings.

Excellent set of strings for cello
My son is very pleased with his new set of Evah Pirazzi Gold strings. They give a full, bright, round sound and are responsive to his playing. He likes this set better than his old set of Larsen/Tungsten combo and so much better than the Dominant set. I love the one day free delivery on Prime.

the 'gold' standard
these strings take my less than stellar instrument I play professionallyi up several notches. The tone, quality is unmatched in my opinion. Yes, they are pricey, so its hard to say if they are 'worth' the money, but thats unfortunately what a good set of cello strings cost and the extra you pay for these have always been worth it to me. I also the regular Evah's (not gold) are an excellent choice.

Broken A string after 1 week!
After playing for only 1 week, my A string just snapped in an unusual place that does not rub or wear against any part of my cello. Considering how much these cost, that's just appalling. I am returning this whole set and purchasing from a regular music store that will hopefully carry better quality product. I saw the other recent review that said their A string broke after an hour, but thought it must be a fluke. I was wrong. I love these strings, but do not buy them from here!

Pirastro got it right...
As an advanced student player, these strings have a full-bodied, well-balanced sound that is rich enough for solo playing while being bright enough to be heard over an orchestra. These are my professor’s go to strings — and now mine as well. (Re other reveiws: make sure to put some pencil lead in the grooves on the nut and bridge to prevent strings from breaking during tentioning)

Beautiful!
These strings have made my cello sing more beautifully, and the sound is more even and stronger. It took a while to adapt to them -- more, faster bow helps bring out the best in these strings. These strings were worth every penny, and they make practicing the cello more pleasurable. I reccommend them without reservation.
