Pots of death
The label says "plant pot and all." Don't do it! These are the problems with planting with these pots:They dry out very quickly and then will wick out the water you put into the soil, resulting in water starved roots that are thin and do not have the strength to break through these little peat prisons. If you keep them wet before planting, mold will grow on them if you are using a warm room to grow them in (that is why they tell you to cover them completely, any part of them sticking out above the soil will also grow mold).I planted seeds into these, grew them for a few weeks and planted the pots directly into the soil. No matter what I did, the growth on all of the plants were severely stunted (a few died). I pulled them out of the soil after eight weeks and found not a single peat pot had even started to break down (I guess they mean that they break down in a year or two and so won't leave pots in your garden). Despite the plants having been watered recently, the peat pots were already nearly dry. Half the plants had not managed to break roots out of their little prisons yet, and the ones that had managed to get a few roots through the bottom of the pot had thin, weak roots. This was despite using rooter's mycorrhizae. I suspect the only reason these plants even were alive was due to doing foliar feedings. And yes, everything else, PH, temperature, and all other variables were perfect.I suppose if you wait until the roots come through the pots before planting, it might be better as in the seed box you can at least keep these things wet enough to keep the roots from being totally water starved. But this will probably lead to the pots being moldly (unless you are growing in a cold room), which can kill off most plants. If you do use these, either completely cut them off before planting (which might damage roots that have managed to penetrate their little prison) or cut the top edge off (to prevent it from sticking out and moldering) and cut the bottom off (so the roots might escape). Of course, what is left will still wick water away from the roots, resulting in poor root structure until they finally get deep into the soil. But if you're cutting them off, well, that defeats their purpose and there are far better options if you are doing this. Even a dixie cup is better than one of these.

Maybe
The price is great, and keep in mind I am not much of a botanical whizzy, I ordered these to plant my extra seeds from my original ordering. My fault I didn't think ahead as to where to keep these in the meantime. So when they're wet and watered I have a mess. If you are raising from seed and need to keep these indoors until sprouts emerge, be sure you have a place that can endure the drippy leakage that is normal. They work great, which is why they drip well.

Just sew, grow, and plant
These pots are great for seed starting and propagation they hold their moisture well and their form. It's just a three step process, sew seed, grow, then plant to the garden or larger pot. These peat pots break down naturally and actually help add amendments to your soil. They fit well into growing flats where you can cover them with plastic wrap or a dome to help germination. I also buy warming pads to help the process. But you don't need all of the accessories to have success with these pots just sew, grow, and plant.

Peat pots worked great for VBS!
Our church remade itself into old time Nazareth this summer. Kids came and experienced life as Jesus did. The peat pots were used to start plants out from seeds. The little pots went home to be planted and produce new life. Life from the seeds became an analogy for life in Jesus through the word of God taught in little lessons held in small hands and peat pots. :-))

These pots are perfect !
Our Peat Pots were received as expected and in great condition. My seedlings will enjoy these pots and It will be so much more easier to just put pot and plant in the ground knowing that these peat pots break down naturally. All my seeds should make it.

These were smaller then I thought they would be. I'm certain the error is on my part.

Perfect for starting spring bulbs
These pots are perfect for starting 90% of my caladium bulbs. The other 10% of the bulbs need to be put in 4" pots, because the bulbs are too large for the 3. However, I am quite satisfied, and use this brand every year.

Somewhat confused
Why is the list price $75. I find it hard to believe anyone would pay that. I don't feel like I saved $72 dollars for the single pack of 12 tiny pots. I guess I thought it was multiple packs for that list price. Do I not understand correctly?

Jiffy Pots
I start all my flowers and vegetables from seed. These pots work well for for all my seedlings. Give them a try, but be warned, they dry out quickly so check daily to see if the require water.
