Best For Price Range
This nifty device works really well but sometimes sputters out. Every few days I'll have a bad day with it and it will lag a lot. Also it does not work with a Microsoft Ergonomic 4000, however, I still give it 5 stars for 2 reasons. 1) It is the best price in its class, if you dont want to spend a hundred bucks on a nice powered one this does the job. 2) Support was excellent, when I started having lagging on the device a little less than a year after, they sent a free replacement to make up. Their support people talk excellent english, and provided stellar support.

Bought this for Keyboard Shortcut changing
Needed a KVM switch that would work with a keyboard and not have to press the button on the switch to change computers. I had purchased a switch that worked only with pressing the button on the device and I grew tired of it quickly and I started to look for keyboard shortcut KVM switch. I have a mac so I am using ctrl +ctrl + 1 or 2 to change to the other computer . it works great (note I am not using the HDMI portion of the switch I have to separate monitors and I have not tested it) - my bluetooth logitech keyboard is connected by a dongle and my mouse is a microsoft wireless mouse with a dongle both connected to the switch. The keyboard shortcut is quick and fast and this switch is working great!

Very easy to use, no power required, and keyboard hotkeys for switching
I've been using this product for about a month to switch between two computers.PROS: Hotkey combos for switching between sources is very convenient assuming that you are sitting at your keyboard. maybe not so much if you're sitting on your couch. I also like that it needs no additional external power.CONS: It does not seem to be HDCP 2.2 compliant, so once I inserted the switch between my computer and monitor some DRM protected media will no longer play in HDIt is a great product for the money as long long as you don't need HDCP 2.2 compliance. I'm not returning this one, but for my needs I will probably be buying another KVM that is HDCP complianct.

Inconsistent / buggy--doesn't work 10% of the time.
When it works, it is great. Does exactly what it is supposed to do. Allows me to switch between my home computer and work laptop while I'm working from home, but keep one monitor / keyboard / mouse setup. The only issue I have with it is that once in a while, it doesn't work. Specifically, the display will "flash" and alternate between the desktop and a black screen (desktop for one second, blank screen for 2 or 3 seconds, repeat). There's no one fix. Sometimes just switching back and forth between computers will fix it. Sometimes I need to unplug and HDMI and plug it back in. Other times I need to reboot. Finally, when this problem persists, I will literally shut everything down, unplug everything, come back in 10 minutes, plug everything back in and power everything back up.The frustrating thing is this is very unpredictable. Sometimes it happens several times a week, other times I can go a month or more without any issues. No rhyme or reason why this happens once in a while, but is fine the rest of the time. If this device was more stable I would give it five stars.

Good value, but beware USB 1.x
This switch almost works perfectly for me, except that my webcam needs USB 2.0 speeds in order to operate at all, so it doesn't work with the USB 1.1 ports on this KVM switch.I like the USB power feature: if only one computer is on then it will automatically switch to that computer. Switching is pretty fast: USB devices switch immediately and displays only take about 3 seconds. Although, I've discovered that for my workflow, I've realized I actually DON'T want EDID emulation. Because I use this switch with a laptop and a desktop, when I switch off the laptop, I WANT it to know that a display has been removed so it can go into single-display mode. Otherwise half of my windows will exist on a "non-existent" screen. So in the end, the faster display switching afforded by EDID emulation isn't worth it for me.In the end, if all you need is a KVM switch with USB 1.1 ports, EDID emulation, and HDMI, then this thing is pretty good value.

Stay Away - Did not function correctly even out of the box.
I wanted to like this. Just out of the box I started testing connected to a single machine before I pulled my existing KVM all apart. With this, the keyboard is not recognized during boot 90+% of the time. Can't get into the BIOS. WTF? Mouse not recognized at all during boot - for example when Win10 presents its boot menu to me (Windows or Linux), no mouse at all and there should be. Once booted, Win10 recognizes the keyboard ok it seems in my testing. But the mouse is not working 99% of the time. WTF? When this happens I can navigate to Device Manager using the keyboard alone and I see this (which disappears as soon as the mouse is unplugged). This all happens with multiple mice and keyboards. Not sure if this is a defective unit or just an awful design. The box is very small and seems solid. I like that there are threaded holes on the side to help permit fixing in position. But back it is going. A real disappointment! So stay away.

KVM Review
This device worked find with a laptop and a desktop (as I hoped it would). I then upgraded the video card on the desktop. When the desktop is active, the monitor started blanking out. It would go black, and then come back, then go black again to the point it became unusable. I researched this issue and it can be caused by a video splitter when the HDMI loses it's signal. Plugging the desktop directly into the monitor works fine, just a bit inconvenient. Since this KVM does split the HDMI signal, this is probably an issue with the KVM.Update: Ordered a better HDMI cable. Ran it from the KVM output to the monitor and the blinking stopped. Problem with cable, not KVM.

Great item but breaks too fast
This KVM switch has a great feature - keyboard hotkey. When I received an item I got a feeling it has already been repackaged and I requested an exchange. The 2nd item came in new and I started using it. Both switches have very unusually tight ports. Two days later the new KVM switch decides to break and stops recognizing any USB attachments. So I reverted back to the 1st 'used' one... Will be sending back the 'new' kvm switch that was supposed to be a replacement for the 1st kvm... .LOL...very mixed feelings about longevity of this gadget...

Chose it for the hotkey support
I wanted a switch I could hide out of sight, so keyboard hotkey support was essential. It works well, was straightforward to set up and had all the cables I needed included; frees up desk space in my home office, that's all I wanted and that's what I got.
