As I remember
I watched this for free on Prime Video. It was everything I remembered and even though definitely not the best movie ever made, still had sentimental value.

Movie collectors should own this
I've been waiting for this to release on DVD for years now, one of my favorite movies as a teen and as a fan of Christain Sater, at that time I owned a respectable amount of his films. This movie was the only one that took me forever to locate at a reasonable price. With that being said the quality of the transfer is a little shaky in some scenes, slightly grainy all the way through, not as bad as watching a VHS though. Nothing to stress about, easy to overlook if you're humble enough to enjoy that it's ownable; however if a better quality version is released I will buy it. Until then sit back, light one and enjoy the ride Christain Slater fans!2 stars for transfer quality, I gave it the 2 extra stars for the nostalgia and price.

Skater film with real heart
**SPOLERS* It is really hard to describe this film because it is an obvious skater film, but it tackles much broader and deep topics. Having an adopted sibling from another culture and reaching those standards, the grouping of minorities sticking together. But also about a brother who didn’t appreciate the things he had in life when while his brother was still alive. There was some background of politics when it came to other countries and what they fight for. For a basic sounding film on the surface the movie has many layers. Christian Slater of course knocked it out of the park shifting from the unruly skater to a brother willing to risk everything to bring his adopted brother justice. I was beyond thrilled when this was put back on Amazon because I found it so unique and having watched it again it still has that same feel. A must watch for sure.

NOT WIDESCREEN
The listing falsely says that this is in wisescreen, but it's actually 4:3 (at least the product packaging is truthful there). It's not a very crisp print, either. Even the cover art is low-rez! That'll teach me to not read the reviews to check the quality; watching it, I had to wonder if this is bootlegged!I loved this movie as a teen (it was the first Christian Slater movie I ever saw), but hadn't seen it in at least 25 years. It's understandably dated, and the performances are a bit cringe at times, but it's still pretty fun! I'm surprised at how much I remembered as I watched. All the same, while I'd thought $12 was a decent price for nostalgia, now that I've seen how bad of quality this version is, I'd have to say this copy is actually overpriced.Tip: if you highlight the drawing of the skateboard on the menu, there's a short Easter egg featurette about the meaning of the titular phrase "Gleaming the Cube".

Excellent B movie
Great film with some a terrific scene of skateboarders out running motorcycles on a steep canyon hill, which is ralistic as I used to own a GPz550, which is one of the bikes in that chase.

An 80's gem
Get your Converse Chuck Taylors on and wipe the dust off your skateboard because after you've watched Christian Slater in action all you'll want to do is find an empty swimming pool and grind your board. Brian Kelly (Slater) sets out to find the killer of his adopted brother after uncovering some sinister goings-on at the factory owned by the father of his late brothers' girlfriend. Eager to uncover the truth, there are no lengths he won't go to seek justice. A great story with some amazing skateboarding, look out for the legendary Tony Hawks.

Gleaming the cube dvd
Great film for nostalgia, would have been better in 16:9 not 4:3 , sound could also have been improved and picture quality cleaned up. Blu ray release hopefully would address all of these issues.

Classic skate film. Well worth a watch if you are a skater or skateboard fan. Tony Hawk delivering Pizzas?

Skateboarding in the 80's for every decade since!
A film of its time and an interesting storyline, though sometimes you can tell it is not Christian Slater doing the skateboard stunts, i still think that the boarders of today would still like some of the action. One of my 'teenage' film favourites!
